Just over a year ago now, independent watch manufacturer, Armin Strom, blew our collective minds with the unveiling of their revolutionary Mirrored Force Resonance timepiece. Since then, the team has continued to refine the collection, most recently introducing versions with gorgeous guilloché dials created by the master, Kari Voutilainen. Now, at SIHH 2018, Armin Strom has unveiled an even more refined version of the Mirrored Force Resonance timepiece called Pure Resonance. We spoke to Serge Michel, owner of Armin Strom, to get some more insight.

One of the most admirable qualities of Armin Strom is their unrelenting desire to improve. Success for them is a temporary state. They are continually making tweaks in a never-ending quest to create the best timepiece possible. That’s one of the reasons why the company has been working with the famed Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM). Not only has this collaboration officially confirmed that Armin Strom’s Mirrored Force invention is in resonance, it’s also helping the brand figure out how its resonance clutch spring can be optimised to provide maximum benefit.

It’s also the reason why they have introduced another iteration of this incredible timepiece at SIHH 2018. As you already know to expect from MONOCHROME, we will have a separate post profiling the new Armin Strom Pure Resonance timepiece in more detail later this week. While you’re waiting for that though, you can pick up a few key pieces of information from what Serge mentions in our video above. For a start, these new versions of the watch (one in steel and one in rose gold) offer a more refined – pure – design, with a focus on displaying the time as accurately as possible. This has resulted in a slightly smaller, slightly thinner case, although it is still unmistakably Armin Strom.

They’ve also made some mechanical upgrades to the movement, but you’ll have to read the article coming on Thursday to find out more about that.
