Our home planet aligned with our neighbouring satellite on the dial of the latest MeisterSinger.

MeisterSinger is on somewhat of a mission to reduce its carbon footprint and increase its overall sustainability not only by means of using vegan leather straps and environmentally friendly produced boxes but also by partnering with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). This leading organisation has been active in preserving nature the world over, raising awareness and making changes on pressing issues wherever it can. What started with the MeisterSinger Edition Planet Earth now continues with the brand’s second collaborative effort, the MeisterSinger Edition Best Friends.

MeisterSinger uses the Stratoscope as the platform for this second WWF-edition piece. With 43mm in diameter and 12.4mm in height, it’s a pretty sizeable yet very wearable watch thanks to the sharp curvature of the lugs. Details include brushed and polished surfaces, a sturdy crown with the MeisterSinger logo and a very narrow bezel. The domed sapphire crystal on top reveals a very large dial, visually reducing the overall size of the case. It is water-resistant to 50 meters, so it can take a little bit of a splash.

MeisterSinger lines up the very cool oversized moon phase display of the Stratoscope with a photorealistic print of planet Earth in the lower half of the jet black dial. This is done in the same style as with the Edition Planet Earth, MeisterSinger’s first collaborative watch with the WWF, albeit smaller in size obviously. This smaller size will no doubt minimalize some of the details but judging by the images it still looks quite crisp. Time is indicated with a single, centrally-mounted hand, with a timing track on the outer perimeter. Some of the double-digit hour markers made room for the date window, now at 3 o’clock and the print of the Earth. The upper half is once again dominated by the moon phase.

The MS-Luna automatic movement, based on a Sellita SW 200-1, is covered by a mineral glass caseback decorated with the WWF Panda logo in black. This reliable movement is regularly found in MeisterSinger’s watches and beats at a frequency of 28,800vph, with 26 jewels and 38 hours of power reserve. Mounted on top is an in-house designed module for the oversized moon phase display. The movement is modified slightly to show time by means of a single hand, MeisterSinger’s familiar trademark.

The MeisterSinger Edition Best Friends is a limited edition of 250 pieces. It comes on a dark brown vegan leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle, and is delivered in 100% sustainably produced packaging. Retailing at EUR 4,250, MeisterSinger donates EUR 250 of each watch sold to the WWF in support of its global environmental programs. The watch will be available for purchase from mid-November onwards.

  1. There is not a more beautiful planet than our Earth! We should all finally become aware of this – and protect it! Thanks to MeisterSinger and WWF.
