Charles Zuber Perfos

When checking the list of exhibiting brands of Watches and Wonders 2023, you may have wondered about the name Charles Zuber. Behind this new watch and jewellery brand is a Geneva-born atelier inspired by the creations of a 20th-century Swiss jeweller (1932-2012) who worked behind the scenes for prominent brands. Alongside the Pomander Jewellery line, Charles Zuber launches a luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet, the Perfos. And we have a closer look at it now.

Charles Zuber Perfos

Created with Swiss designer Eric Giroud, the Perfos taps into the successful luxury sports watch with integrated bracelet category.  With its distinct personality, the model stands out with a squarish, octagonal case combining straight lines, soft curves and a flat bezel with a chamfered perimeter. Its 3-piece architecture is highlighted by a mix of satin-brushed and polished surfaces. The fluted crown is adorned with a cabochon. The steel watch we had for review was 39mm x 39mm, but the model comes in different sizes and materials. Extending these lines and curves is a steel bracelet with a three-row chocolate-link design. Perfectly integrated into the case, it softly tapers to the folding buckle.

Another standout feature is the sandwich construction dial of the Perfos with an openworked plate with triangular grooves affixed to a lower base plate. Each opening coincides perfectly with each of the sixty high-polish indexes that create high-catching reflections. The centre part of the dial is delimited by a round appliqué. With a galvanic finish, it features the brand’s logo and a cross-hair small seconds.

Inside the Charles Zuber Perfos is the proprietary automatic calibre 01. Visible via the exhibition caseback, this rectangular micro-rotor movement matches the shape of the case. Its architectural design also echoes the design of the watch with its straight, parallel bridges. An original touch, the gear train is in-line as evidenced by the 5 jewels in the centre of the movement. Beating at 4Hz, the relatively small balance wheel has an index assembly, and the power reserve is 38 hours. The movement is finished in dark grey with blued screws and Geneva stripes radiating from the micro-rotor (a wink to the dial of the watch).

The Charles Zuber Perfos is worn on an integrated “chocolate plate” steel bracelet and is secured to the wrist by a triple-folding clasp. Leather strap versions are also available. The price is set at CHF 22,800 for the 39mm steel-on-steel version.

  1. LOL
you have to be a Charles Zuber person for this kind of price/watch item.
Or a former Tax-Inspector who is now in his later life phase creating watches.

  2. Design is cool, price is not but you can do it two ways. Either sell ten of them for tenth of price or one at full one. Of course latter approach will give buyer sense of exclusivity.

  3. It looks like a quirky microbrand offering, and if this was an affordable watch, I’d be interested. But this style does not suit the price bracket.
